I.The institution of marriage is of divine origin.

A. It is "honorable in all."

B. Marriage is for life – a permanent union, a bond not to be broken.

II. Because He recognizes what may be the end result of an unequally yoked marriage


(see 1 Kings 11:1-6), God has placed specific restrictions on Christians concerning
marriage. A believer may only marry "in the Lord" (that is, to one of the same faith:
Genesis 24:37).

III. "Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favor of the Lord."

V. Does not Paul, in his first epistle to the Corinthians, seem to present a negative
attitude toward marriage?


A. It is true that Paul attempted to discourage the Christians of his day from
marrying (ch. 7:7-9, 27, 32, 33, 38); but he says, "this I speak for your own
profit; not that I may cast a snare upon you" (v. 35).








B. Why did he consider it "profitable" to remain single?
1. For "the present distress."

2. To give undivided devotion to the Lord.

3. Because "the time is short."

C. Peter married (Matthew 8:14; Mark 1:30; Luke 4:38; 1 Corinthians 9:5), as did
many of the other apostles (1 Corinthians 9:5). Celibacy was never required of
the disciples of Jesus.

VI. God's intention in the marriage union was "that He might obtain a godly seed."

    Father Lord I thank you for you are a faithfull God and will never leave or forsake your children . You said in your word that you set the lonely up in their own homes. God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.psalm 68:6.
    Lord You said no good thing will you withhold from those you love, a wife is a good thing , father we pray you give this brethen His or her life partner so that they can both serve you together in spirit and truth and fill the earth and multipy it. Accordingly to your word in gen 1:28- God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." in Jesus name.

    I forsake you."
    Isa 49:13-16 "... the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion
    on his afflicted ones. But Zion said, 'The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord
    has forgotten me.' Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no
    compassion on the child she as borne? Though she may forget, I will not
    forget you!'...
