As we earlier examined in the beginning of this marriage seminar,it has been established by both God and man that if anything is built on a faulty
foundation,it only risks or awaits an ultimate collapse. Needless to say,anything,including marriage, designed on a faulty foundation is designed for collapse. (Psalm 11:3) ´´If the
foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?´´ Now,let us examine some prominent points that could be considered sources of faulty foundations in marriage. Nevertheless,there is no mincing words about the fact that the only viable basis or foundation for a happy marriage - and subsequently, home - is that based on the bible as the guide. (Psalm 127)´´Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain´´. If a marriage is contracted based on any (or all) of the following reasons or points,it could be said to have a faulty foundation. Some of such points are:
Religious belief. Virtually every marriage is bound to,at one time or the other,suffer storms, wind and rain. (Matthew 7:27)´´And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it´´. Only the ones built on solid foundations would still have their structures survive the weather. that is why it is of utmost neccesity to locate and establish a partner with whom we can effectively weather the storms when they come. any short of that solid base,we would lack what it takes to rescue our marriages from the storms when they visit.The ultimate success of a Christian marriage depends on how securedly that marriage is built around christian principles. Any one built around christian principles will succeed because,if the prescriptions of God are followed in managing a marriage,it would be able to withstand the test of time. There would be all the neccesary Godly ingredients in such a marriage - Love,fear of God,Godliness,uprightness,selflessness,sincerity,truthfulness,brokenness,submissiveness etc,which are crucial to a happy home.
